Giving Back Locally – Food Banks

Feb 16, 2021 | Blog

There are many ways to give back to your community. As a business, we feel it is even more important to make a positive impact on our local community. To help us achieve that goal, we have been working with the Howard County Food Bank. Donating time and food to help those who need assistance so close to us.

We selected the Howard County Food Bank for many reasons:

  • They’re local!
  • They offer more than just food.
  • They share our goal to help those in our community.

So, let’s break these down so you can see just how important it is to give at the local community level.

Many use this as an advertising punchline but, we think it should be a lifestyle. When you give your time, money and, donations locally, you help those around you build a better life. Living locally, simply put, creates a healthy cycle.

When you donate, those who receive assistance have a better chance of growing out of that need. Then they give back to that community by donating as well once they have a healthier financial base.

Much like shopping locally helps your community. Buying local means smaller carbon footprint, more money to small business who then in turn donate to the community via school fundraisers and donating to local charities.

More to Offer

Food banks aren’t just about free food. They are about nutrition, education, and community growth.

Nutrition is key. When a person has little or no access to food, it is imperative that the food they do receive is the healthiest they can get. Poor nutrition leads to unhealthy people.

Food Bank education programs can help educate adults on ways to get creative with the food they have to make it stretch longer and be enticing to children while maintaining the correct level of nutrition needed.

Food banks also act as a guide for people to find further nutrition assistance. Many communities have local school, library, and church programs to help ensure that our community is well fed all year long.

Shared Goals

The Howard County Food Bank is committed to alleviating the effects of hunger by providing adequate and nutritious food items to families. We feel the same!

As a member of the Howard County community, we feel an obligation to our community members. And this is why we have made the decision to donate time and food to our local food bank.

We are even making it easy for you to donate as well. Many reach out to us about our burlap bags. We have decided to make those bags work for the greater good one step further. You can buy these burlap bags on our website and the money you pay for these bags is donated in full to the Howard County Food Bank.  That’s it, so easy. These bags are great to help with bulk food storage, gardening, and crafting.

So, what are you going to do today to give back?
