What Does The Frog Mean?
It’s a seal that’s recognized by nearly 20 percent of Americans, according to the Rainforest Alliance. Big brands like WholeFoods, McDonalds, Costco and even Staples display it on some of their products, but do you know what it means?
The frog symbolizes protected wildlands, waterways, wildlife habitat and the rights and well-being of farm workers. It symbolizes the work of the international nonprofit organization the Rainforest Alliance.
The Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal assures consumers that the product they are purchasing has been grown and harvested using environmentally and socially responsible practices. More specifically, it means soils, waterways and wildlife habitats are protected. It also means farm workers have decent housing and access to good medical care and schools for their children.
Only farms and forestlands that meet the rigorous, third-party standards of the Sustainable Agriculture Network or the Forest Stewardship Council are awarded the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal. Farms must commit to a process of continuous improvement and are audited each year in order to maintain their certification.
Know that when you purchase our Brazil Daterra Estate coffee, you are supporting a healthier planet and an improved quality of life for a farming community.
