Fall Coffee Traditions (With No Trace of Pumpkin)

Sep 16, 2022 | Blog

We all know it and love it, but every once in a while, the pumpkin spice latte needs to take five. After all, too much of a good thing is a real thing, and if every latte were pumpkin spice – what would we have to look forward to all spring? Luckily, there is no shortage of fall coffee traditions to, um, fall back on in the interim.

Here are just four fantastic autumn flavors and blends to keep you warm and cozy all season long.

  • Graham: Is there anything better than the taste explosion of rich chocolate, a crisp graham crunch, and the gooey marshmallow that holds it all together? If you’re a believer, but enjoy a good twist from time to time, gather ’round the fireside for some S’mores-inspired coffee. Start with a mild, non-spicy roast – like a South American espresso blend – and pair with a store-bought marshmallow topping and cocoa powder. Top with frothed milk, whipped cream, and crumbled graham cracker crumbs, then dim the lights and tell a ghost story or two!
  • Caramel: Salted, served with marshmallow or nougat, or adorning a candied apple – creamy caramel is an autumn staple anyway you slice it. When blending it with your favorite coffee, aim for a roast with low acidity, as anything more might smother those delicate sweet notes. A salted caramel latte is an awesome accompaniment whether you’re carving pumpkins or cuddled up with a good book. Caramel sauce or syrup paired with cocoa powder, sugar, and milk make for the perfect brew. Or go bobbing for some apples – or apple syrup – and combine these flavors for a true candied apple autumn treat.
  • Maple: Maple makes everything better, doesn’t it? In addition to syrups that add a velvety sweetness to any beverage, one of Orinoco’s annual fall favorites – Cinnamon French Toast – combines the enchanting and warm flavors of maple syrup and cinnamon. This blend hits the spot on both early fall mornings and late nights by the fireside.
  • Pecan: From farm stands offering fresh-baked goods to grandma’s secret recipe left cooling on the windowsill, pie season has most certainly begun. But if you’re one of the select few that prefer their sweet treat in a mug rather than on a plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream – we’ve got you covered. Orinoco’s Southern Pecan offers a light roasted Brazil coffee combined with the buttery goodness of roasted pecans for a smooth, sumptuous, and uniquely sweet cup of coffee. Stock your pantry and go nuts this season.
