Finance reports today that Kraft Foods Group, maker of Maxwell House and Yuban roast and ground coffee brands, will increase U.S. retail prices by approximately 10% beginning June 6. Kraft's price increase does not apply to its instant and single-serve coffees or Gevalia and Tassimo brands. CNN Reports today that J.M. Smucker, a leading marketer and manufacturer of fruit spreads, retail packaged coffee and many other food products, will increase the price of two of its large coffee brands sold in grocery stores, drug, mass merchandise, and club outlets. The price of Folgers® and Dunkin' Donuts® packaged products will increase by 9% as result of severe drought in Brazil that wreaked havoc on this year's harvest of Arabica beans, the most popular bean in coffee production.
